Triangle's Stainless Steel Rod with Swage Helps Customer Win Bids

Triangle Manufacturing Company, a Wisconsin based metal component and threaded rod manufacturer began supplying stainless steel threaded rods to a prominent HVAC component manufacturer, Van-Packer. Van-Packer saves time and money having these products made and sourced by Triangle instead of manufacturing them in house. Recently, members of the Triangle Sales and Engineering teams visited one of Van-Packer’s facilities to ensure the threaded rods were working well and to better understand the customer’s application.

"We are always looking for ways to help improve our overall designs and incorporate our knowledge and flexibility to benefit our partners," said Austin Flanders, Director of Sales and Marketing for Triangle Manufacturing. "Our team took a visit and saw another opportunity to tweak a design that not just saves money, but helps our customer’s employees on assembly." Specifically, the team observed that Van-Packer was adding a nut to each threaded rod to act as a stop and considered whether they could manufacture their rods with a swage style stop, providing value by helping Van-Packer consolidate skus while eliminating both the cost of the nut and the assembly time.

After carefully evaluating the assembly process at Van-Packer, the team from Triangle assessed the challenge and designed the new feature. In short order, they were able to begin manufacturing the swage style stop which allowed them to provide Van-Packer with 2-piece assemblies. This custom end resulted in fewer components, easier assembly, improved quality, and additional cost savings. These improvements came at a great time for Van-Packer, helping them win multiple projects where these components are necessary.
